The Butterflies are Coming!

I’m marking my calendar so I don’t miss it.  The monarch butterfly migration starts in November and ends in February.  With all the activities around the holidays, I always end up forgetting and go in late January when there’s not as many around.  Goleta and Pismo Beach are two popular destinations for migrating Monarchs.  You may not know they’re there unless you use binoculars or a good zoom lens on your camera.  If you’re lucky and find a clearing where they’re flitting around, it’s a magical sight to behold.  I’ve been to Goleta and the area is great for hiking, with the added bonus that it’s near the beach and not far from Santa Barbara.

Speaking of monarch butterflies, this one likes koala bears.

I travel, eat, blog, organize and re-organize, hunt for the unusual out of the usual, attempt many DIY projects, and can't go without boba for more than a week. The craziest road trip I ever took was to go to Sequoia National Park for a day - from Huntington Beach. The round trip was over 12 hours and the visit lasted about 2 hours. But the views were worth it!
